NanOm is an R&D company founded in 2018, specialized in the development and application of high-end nanotechnology for our customers. NanOm delivers breakthrough performance by designing tailored and highly functional nanomaterials making energy storage smarter, more efficient and longer-lasting. Our mission is to release the true potential of nanotechnology as an enabler of a range of applications within significant sustainable impact in the fields of energy, coatings, and catalysts.

Among other projects, we are currently working towards applying our technology to battery materials as part of the EC Green Deal.
Our team consists of 15 people across offices in Europe and the US, with our laboratories being in Reykjavik (Iceland), and Zagreb (Croatia). A common denominator for who we are and what we do is that we are extremely ambitious, both as individuals and as a team. We are here to make an impact!

Senior Mechanical Engineer
What you´ll do
• Be responsible for processing in production with periodical maintenance plans, servicing
• Start at the conceptual phase or at the global design phase based on aligned customer requirements, including detailed fabrication and assembly diagrams
• Monitor and improve the long-term effectiveness of plant’s maintenance strategies (preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, RCA), follow requirements and priorities to enhance plant’s reliability and ensure Nanom quality objectives are met.
• Posses with strong technical and hands-on knowledge for process plants equipment, to support and guide plants maintenance crew for critical maintenance tasks, solving and improving reliability and engineering matters.
• Compliance with Nanom engineering and quality standards
• Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to improve productivity, coach and develop people raising ownership, skills and contribute to a new positive culture throughout the group.
Experience, Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Experience in processing and production equipment with maintenance
• Familiar with international standards like API, ASME, BS, ANSI etc.
• Able to apply principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics and materials in work. Strong management and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional goal orientation and drive for results are expected. Ability to work in a team within a matrix organization. Experience in using 3D CAD software.
• Excellent communication skills with fluency in English Mature, an innovative mindset, analytical skills, a solution & hands-on oriented attitude.
• A team player with the ability to work independently in a cross-functional international team.
• Additional experience or knowledge either in Mechatronics, Processing Management, Production Management, System Processing or System Control would be an advantage.
Preferred Skills
• Degree in Process Engineering/Production Process related to Fluid Dynamics and powdered materials
• 5-10 years of experience in the above-mentioned areas
• Extensive experience in PDMS (Plant Design Management System) expertise – 3D CAD
Research and Development Lab Manager - Reykjavik, Iceland
R&D Lab Manager
What you´ll do
• Overall performance management of the NanOm project portfolio assigned to the new Icelandic R&D Lab in collaboration with the COO and the CTO.
• Daily management of the growing R&D team in Reykjavik.
• Be overall responsible for the execution of the portfolio of R&D projects.
• Implement relevant best practice project management tools across the project portfolio, and ensure safe project execution on all accounts.
• Optimize resource allocation for timely project delivery across portfolios.
• Manage and develop project managers towards the delivery of set targets and deliverables.
• Facilitate the timely consolidation of required reporting towards 3rd parties.
• In collaboration with the COO, facilitate and drive performance culture in the lab through collaboration and cross-fertilization of best practice, and lead by example.
What we’re looking for
• Doctorate or Master's degree in fields related to Science, Research and Development, - preferably within nano tech.
• Proven track record with project management and project execution from concept to final delivery.
• Experience working with public grant-funded projects and reporting requirements

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
• Create, develop and lead effective project teams, and engage and facilitate teams in order to deliver successful projects.
• Develop and install effective project management structures, tools and processes across lab organization/project portfolio.
• Facilitate the development and maintenance of individual firm project plans, and resource allocate accordingly in collaboration with the lab HR manager.
• Ensure project requirements are being managed, recorded and signed-off by relevant budget holder.
• Facilitate cross-collaboration between projects, technical leads, lab HR manager and other relevant parts of the organization in order to drive value creation.
• Ensure a risk register of threats and opportunities is maintained for all projects and validate potential contingency costs against these. 
• Comply with NanOm’s policies and procedures, and provide input for improvements.
• Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder’s experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the business, optimizing value generation.

Principle Mechanical Engineer
Detailed Roles & Responsibilities
• Be responsible for the mechanical concepts & designs of high-performance processing equipment (including chemicals) to improve the performance and reliability of new concepts and existing equipment.
• You will start at the conceptual phase or at the global design phase based on aligned customer requirements, including detailed fabrication and assembly diagrams
• Coach design engineers and technicians (2-3 FTE's) in detailing the design, assembly, integration & testing/debugging/operating equipment.
• Document related design specifications and other outputs including manufacturing and user instructions (manual).
• Monitor and improve the long-term effectiveness of plant’s maintenance strategies (preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, RCA), analyze results, define requirements and set priorities to enhance plant’s reliability and ensure Nanom quality objectives are met.
• Posses with strong technical and hands-on knowledge for process plants equipment, to support and guide plants maintenance crew for critical maintenance tasks, solving and improving reliability and engineering matters.
• Act as Technical Lead in project management and implementation, work closely with the process team to develop project scope, feasibility study, details engineering, tendering, equipment specifications and purchases, construction management and coordination to ensure SSHE, QAQC, schedule and budget goals are met.
• Responsible for ensuring design and construction activity, including related engineering activities, is in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and Nanom standards.

• Hands-on skill and knowledge for construction works, rotating equipment (various types of pumps, compressor, gearboxes, etc.) and static equipment (pressure vessel, piping, storage tank) maintenance.
• Experience in using #Design (CAD) / MATLAB simulation with to perform Mathematical modeling and analysis of complete production Systems
• Familiar with international standards like API, ASME, BS, ANSI, etc. which are relevant with the chemical process plant.
• Able to apply principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer and materials in work.
• Strong management and interpersonal skills. Exceptional goal orientation and drive for results are expected.

• Experience in using CAD / MATLAB simulation.
